In Pat Dorsey’s book, “Tying and Fishing Tailwater Flies”, he introduced us to the Nuclear Egg.  A few members are using Dorsey’s Top Secret Midge and this egg pattern is used to tie on the Top Secret midge.  When using the white egg foam, making it thinner and see through is what you want to accomplish.  After tying a dozen, I made a few changes to his pattern that I am going to try.   This is my variation to his Nuclear Egg Variation.  I use white thread and tie off the white foam material in front and in the back of the hook.  This gives the egg a rounder appearance.

Materials:

Fishing Instructions – The egg/midge combination.  The midge is tied about 14 to 16 inches from the egg, and a small lead weight about 14 to 16 inches above the egg.  Fish it at the edge of fast moving water and strip back.
