10/3/2016 – The Boys from Idaho and their Flies

A few weeks back, Nellie and I (Dennis Stead) ran into the three young men from Idaho fishing at Taneycomo.  They told us that they work on oil drilling rigs for five month and then come to fish here in Branson for a month.  They also heard about MTFA Branson start up and thought that was a great idea. In talking to them, they were using real small scud -20 to 24 with a red head or a red glass bead head and another scud with a red glass bead in the center of the body on a size 14 or 16.  I had them show me the flies but was unsuccessful of getting a sample.  They were catching a lot of fish.  Attached I have tied them the best of my memory.  Take a look and will add then to our fly tying patterns.
