Our MTFA member and MDC Naturalist Sam Stewart held two fly tying classes on Saturday, 1/7/2017. The morning class was for teens; the afternoon class was for families. Members of our club assisted teaching the participants. Sam started off with a little history and background about fly fishing. Our first fly was a white thread jig and the second was a wooly worm. The third fly was a chance for the students to pick their own materials and develop a fly of their own design. Sam finished with thoughts on conservation and catch and release. Everyone had fun. Sam’s presentation was nothing less than professional.
