I am using a Tiemco TMC403BLJ.  This is a barbless jig hook with a wide gap.  This Short (Fat) bugger will travel across the bottom with the hook up.  This will eliminate the hook getting caught on the bottom.  I also have listed the materials in the order that they are tied on with one exception, step-1 below shows building up a thread base for the the size of the hole in the white glass bead.  Add super glue and pull the bead over the threads.    White does well at the state parks, and this fly should be no exception.    Fly tied by Dennis Stead – size 10.

Materials

  1. Hook: Tiemco TMC403BLJ
  2. Hook Size:  8, 10, 12, 14, 16
  3. Head: Glass E-Bead 6/0
  4. Weight: add lead wire
  5. Thread: UTC-Thread 8/0 or 6/0
  6. Tail: Marabou (optional – Grizzle tip for tiger tail)
  7. Hackle: Color to match bugger color
  8. Body: Peacock Herl
  9. Hot Core: Madeira Prism White, White Antron

Tying Steps

The white glass beads from Walmart do not have consistent centers, so build up a thread base the size of the center of the white bead and add a drop of super glue.

When finish tying the fly, you can pinch off the excess marabou with our fingers.

Fishing instructions:Fish by letting fly sit on bottom then move it a little and let it sit again.
