Conservation Federation of Missouri Affiliate Summit meeting: Kim Schultz, Ralph Eichholtz, and I attended the CFM Affiliate Summit here in Springfield on Friday, August 19. It was a good meeting. Here are a few highlights that are important to us:
-CFM Executive Director Brandon Butler (he spoke at our August 2015 meeting) has spoken with both gubernatorial candidates and says both are committed to conservation in Missouri. He feels we have the best of all the candidates who were in the running in the primary.
-none of the legislation that would have threatened Missouri conservation passed in the last legislature.
-Missouri State Parks Director Bill Bryan says that the Eleven Point River State Park in Oregon County will proceed despite earlier legislative efforts to prevent it.
-the November election will include Amendment 1, the extension of the Parks, Soils and Water Sales Tax. Please vote yes. This is important for conservation.
