Dan’s Pheasant Nymph. When Dan Ditzler gives you a fly, you know that he has fished with it and it caught fish. It might even be one he has already fished with. At our last meeting he handed me this one and said he ties it with just pheasant, smiled and walked away. Great! After tying 17 flies, I think I got it and can take you through the steps I use. I use both sides of the pheasant tail feather. One side of the feather has barbels that separate nicely (use on the tail). The opposite side the barbels cling together (use on the wings).
